Frequently Asked Questions

Below are just a handful of the questions I’m most often asked about my work as a Christian Science practitioner. Can’t find the question – or the answer – you're looking for? Feel free to shoot me an email.

What does a Christian Science practitioner do?

I work with individuals to gain a better understanding of their relationship to God. The effect is the healing of physical, financial, emotional, professional and interpersonal challenges. Click here for a complete "Scope of Services." What qualifies you for this work?

In short, it's my love for others, for God, and for Christian Science – "Christ’s revelation of Truth, of Life, and of Love," as Mary Baker Eddy describes it, that assures us that man is the very reflection of an all-good God. In addition to being a lifelong Christian Scientist, I’ve completed a course in prayer-based Christian healing and am also an authorized teacher of Christian Science.

How does healing happen?

For a complete answer, I suggest you read Mary Baker Eddy’s book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She writes: “The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation” (p. xi).  Whether you’re praying by yourself or with a Christian Science practitioner, healing always results as you begin to see yourself as God sees you.

What's your procedure?

Once we’ve had a chance to talk and agree to work together,  prayer-based treatment begins. You will be given treatment for one day. If there's a need for further help, feel free to call again and I will be happy to continue working for you. I do not continue to work unless specifically asked to do so. Please email or call to initiate treatment (do not text).

How much do you charge... and why?

Like other professionals, Christian Science practitioners charge a fee for their work as they are not employed by the Christian Science Church. Practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal devote their entire time to healing and do not engage in other professions or pursue other vocations. I charge $60 per treatment, $90 for an office visit (includes treatment), and $120 for an in-person visit either at your home or at a Christian Science nursing facility (includes treatment).

What's required of your patients?

I ask only for the desire to be healed. I also recommend that they obtain a copy of the Bible and Science and Health. Why Science and Health? In the words of its author Mary Baker Eddy, “First: Because it is the voice of Truth to this age, and contains the full statement of Christian Science, or the Science of healing through Mind. Second: Because it was the first book known, containing a thorough statement of Christian Science. Hence it gave the first rules for demonstrating this Science, and registered the revealed Truth uncontaminated by human hypotheses…. Third: Because this book has done more for teacher and student, for healer and patient, than has been accomplished by other books” (p. 456).

Does a practitioner need to be present for healing to happen?

Definitely not! Rather than dealing with physical factors, prayer in Christian Science is done on a wholly spiritual basis, which, of course, has nothing to do with where you are or what time it is. Whether you’re down the street or on the other side of the globe, I’d be happy to work with you.

Do I have to be a Christian Scientist in order for you to work with me?

Christian Science is meant to be studied and applied by anyone and everyone, regardless of background or religious affiliation.

Can any problem be healed?

There is nothing that can’t be healed through the sincere application of Christian Science. In fact, Mary Baker Eddy opens her book Science and Health with these words of encouragement for those in search of healing: “The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, – a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love.”

Do you have any examples of healing?

I’ve been healed of all sorts of things, from flu to strained muscles to injuries suffered as the result of a 1000-foot slide down a mountain. I’ve also seen difficult relationships healed and financial problems resolved. As for my patients, my communications with them are always confidential, but I can assure you that there's plenty of healing going on!

How is Christian Science healing different from other methods of healing?

Christian Science healing includes much more than just relief from a particular ailment; it involves a spiritual and moral transformation as well. It also differs from other healing methods in that it begins and ends from the same standpoint – that of seeing man (and woman) as created, and maintained, in the image and likeness of God, divine Spirit.
